Traveling Through Life With Lots Of ‘stuff’
It seems like we manage to somehow collect many objects as we go through life. Some of them are valuable and should be kept while others might not be so valued or don’t even bring with them many good memories but we just can’t get rid of them, for some reason. Our accumulated ‘stuff’ and why we never let it go — such as that Yamaha acoustic guitar we spent money on long ago — can be fascinating to study.
Maybe the thing was bought in some pawnshop back during the salad days — otherwise known as the ‘college experience’ — and it was never really used because there never seemed to be enough time to actually learn how to make the barre chords necessary to pick out the first few measures of Deep Purple’s ‘Smoke on the Water.’ For whatever reason, there it sits in the corner, now collecting dust.
A guitar — whether acoustic or electric — however, is kind of cool looking. One can’t say the same thing about a couple of wet dry vacuums, though. For sure, there’s bound to be someone out there who has collected a couple of them and now has them occupying a place of pride (or some musty, dusty corner) in a garage or basement somewhere on this planet. That fact can be taken to the bank.
Maybe the vacuums were going to be a part of some new restoration business the person who bought them was going to start up but soon abandoned when he found out it was actually real work. Or maybe they were going to be used to clean up wet floors in the house. Regardless, the truth is they haven’t been used in years and they’re a part of our life that we hope never to see again, even in a rerun.
Still and all, a great many items we hold onto serve to bring back pleasant memories. It might be just be so, though how something like a busted tennis racket — which got that way from being pounded in frustration on the asphalt — might bring back misty watercolored memories could just be one of life’s great mysteries in and of itself. At any rate, there’s a cheap racket for some garage sale, probably.
And let’s not get started on the children’s things. At one time cherry baby furniture was probably all the rage among the infant set (the kids, not the infantile parents) but it now should probably occupy a place in someone else’s home, giving some other infant or child just a bit of pleasure. What’s for sure is that the kids who wants needed it are graduated from college now, right?
In truth, the question ‘Are we ever able to let go of ‘stuff?’ will probably never be fully answered and is likely to remain a great mystery to many of us. Maybe getting rid of all of that junk is just too difficult or perhaps there’s so much nostalgia wrapped up in it that it’s impossible to let go. For sure, that stuff is likely to bring back memories even when we’re well into our Social Security years.

Some people think that studying music is just for people who want to make a living out of it. After all, what would an accounting major do with a few units in Music Theory, but for they’re required, right? Would a mother even have any use at all for learning voice lessons? Doing the household chores or taking care of the family’s needs has nothing to do with being successful in singing. What advantage would learning music have?
First, should you study music, it will bring a deeper appreciation for music itself. Skeptics may have been wondering to know but the appreciation of music brings, not only many gains to one’s physical health but also it enhances a person’s mental health. Studies can tell that Music Appreciation can decrease the risk of high blood pressure and stroke. Stress, which is the reason for most health problems is reduced through it. Fifth, it is a great means conveying what you think. Having to learn a positive means of self-expression will in the end help you build your self-esteem. Through self-expression, people who were once painfully shy can become very confident if they’re good at it. Housewives can do something out of their usual schedule such as doing household chores
and taking their kids to schoo. A person can enjoy and benefit from the process at the same time as music is a good way to express yourself.
