Self Instruction In The Art Of Living
Experience is the best teacher in life and we all have ample opportunity to learn. Some of our lessons are on a virtual loop as we keep on encountering them until skilled in dealing with them. A lot of men and women have recognized life has patterns that affect their experiences and as a course of action, change their direction to stop an uncomfortable incident from taking place.
Instead of fighting the lesson, looking for clues to the undercurrent or what it’s really all about, can be a solution to help prevent events from recurring. The sooner it is worked out the easier life is going to get. Take a deep breath, write some notes in a journal or even a disney scrapbook will do the trick, and start piecing the pieces together to make some sense of what it is that needs to be acknowledged.
Challenges that face us are usually things that haven’t been worked out yet. It may have started in childhood. An experience when immature may seem too big for one to handle alone, but it is our own fear that needs to be dealt with.
An illustration of this is, a child may have been bitten by a little dog, not too savagely but enough to give a scare. Ultimately, the child has a fear of dogs. This childhood memory could build up into an emotional roller-coaster of fear that influences irrationally the behaviour and choices of the adult. Being aware of the learned feelings from that experience is a help, but, a balance of true feeling and thought needs to be unfolded. Being fearless is to let go of the memories and associated fears of the past and move through life in the present.
Meditating is a great way of bringing back memories. Clear the mind, relax as best one can, even to the point of falling asleep if necessary, and let go of all thought. Focusing the mind on a keyword and allowing images or memories to come to mind may reveal the reason as to what one’s part is in the drama playing out in real life.
Observing a graphic lcd can be a relaxing pastime and behave like a drop out zone for tired minds, liberating it from the uncertainties and troubles of daily living. To maintain consistent communication between the conscious and sub conscious can be done with a notepad and pen. Whenever something significant comes up it can be kept for an appropriate time.
Taking time off from working on the internal communication system, it is a good idea to pick up the alvarez acoustic guitar and play a little music. This is honey for the bee. Gentle feelings to support a growing self.

The Lost Art Of Gift Giving
Our wedding gifts were everything we expected. Literally. That’s because it was all stuff we registered for. I’m not saying it’s not a good idea to register for gifts. It’s prevented many ugly fruit bowls and multiples of something. (I remember my best friend’s wedding shower where she unwrapped an anodized cookware set, squealed with glee, then unwrapped another, and then one more. It was very awkward.)
So gift registries developed as a way to ensure people were giving, and getting, something useful. The problem with this is that the art of giving gifts has been completely lost. It’s too easy. You just check the registry, pick something, pay for it, and go home. What ever happened to the idea that it’s the though that counts? When did that become something negative?
The whole thing actually did not hit me until my new husband and I were taking our wedding gifts and putting them away. All of the pretty dishes and silverware, the frames and sheets, they really were lovely. But my husband simply could not stop picking up the gift his cousin had bought him. It was the Alvarez acoustic guitar he had been wanting.
His cousin remembered he wanted one, and took the time and effort to get one rather than just fall back on the registry gifts! It certainly would have been easier, especially because my husband’s cousin (like many men) hated to shop. But that one gift meant more to my husband than any present he had been given in a long time.
At that moment I also realized I was dying to get my hands on a gift my sister gave me. It was a box full of scrapbooking stuff. Beautiful scrapbooking papers, rubber stamps, pretty ribbon, paper punches, and so much more. I could not wait until I got all this other stuff put away so I could start creating scrapbook pages of our wedding photos.
Scrapbooking stuff certainly was not on our wedding gift registry. She just knew I would love it. My point is that it is the gifts that people give us because they know and value us that mean the most. I’ve decided not to register for my baby shower. If getting thoughtful gifts means risking a few extra diaper pails, I’m willing to take that risk.
So when you find yourself shopping for gifts next time, try giving some thought to the person and what they might enjoy. If you do not know them that well or you are not good at giving gifts in general, then definitely go with the registry. But if you have any sort of relationship with the person, try not to take the easy route. A little extra thought and time can mean the difference between an okay gift and one that’s truly memorable.

Why learn acoustic guitar?
There are many reasons for learning acoustic guitar, and as you are reading this you probably have your own reasons too. For many people it can be a fun hobby to relax, unwind and pass the time. Others find great rewards in always learning and overcoming each challenge. Some people enjoy showing off their skills to others, and maybe try to impress friends, colleagues, family and even the opposite sex! The most ambitious people see it as a way to start a new career as a session musician, song writer, or even pop star! Whatever your reasons, learning acoustic guitar can be very rewarding and will give you a skill that will stay with you for life.
How to learn
There are so many ways to learn to play acoustic guitar and it all comes down to how you learn best. Some people prefer to hire a teacher who can show them how to play in person, and answer any questions straight away. There are also hundreds of books and video products out there that it is hard to know where to start. Books are great because they are cheap and you can take them anywhere without switching your PC on. Videos have the advantage of being able to show you what to do. Others prefer to take an online course, which can take you right from novice to advanced guitar playing in one course. All of these methods work so its really up to you how you want to learn – whichever you choose, its up to you to put in the practice!
When to learn
There is no magic bullet when it comes to learning acoustic guitar, and the only way is to practice. The more you practice, the more progress you will make in a shorter time. Practice as often as possible, and aim for 3-4 times per week. Of course if you want to turn guitar playing into a career, you’ll need to put in more time – the pros practice for 4-5 hours every day. Dire Straits guitarist, Mark Knopfler once said “I nailed the art of falling asleep while I was playing when I was a teenager. I would end up on the floor with a guitar over me, because I would nod off with my hands going through the same old thing.” If playing guitar will just be a hobby then you don’t need to practice that hard but the more you put in, the more you get out.
How long will it take?
How long the acoustic guitar will take to learn depends on a lot of things. If you can already play an instrument, you will find it easier as you will have some knowledge of music theory. The amount of time you practice the guitar will make a difference too. Like it or not, some people have more natural talent than others and will pick it up quicker. For most people, it should take around 6 months to a year of good practice to get to a decent standard of playing.
Is learning acoustic guitar difficult?
Its neither hard or easy to learn acoustic guitar. Most people find it hard to start with and find that it gets easier quite quickly. Some people will find it easier than others because they are lucky enough to be born with natural talent and good sized hands, but anyone can reach a good level with a little patience, effort, and good advice.
Is it expensive?
Acoustic guitars range in price from around $50 to over $1000 but it can be very cheap to start learning acoustic guitar. All you need is a cheap guitar, some spare strings, some picks, a tuner, and something to learn from. Whether you choose to use books, DVDs, online courses, or a real guitar teacher will depend on how much you can afford. Learning acoustic guitar from books is often cheapest, and a teacher will cost the most.
I’m Terry and I love playing the acoustic guitar and teaching others how to do the same. I also run a web site on Learning Acoustic Guitar.
WHY DOES EVERYONE HERE WANT TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY GUITAR?
cant they just make an article here. like a book on how to play guitar. or a section or something. i love the performing arts section but its just gay seeing so many of the same question
” i got this acoustic guitar today and i really wanna learn how to play my favorite taylor swift songs ”
seriously yahoo do something
i was JUST thinking of posting a question asking this.
i don’t come to Performing arts much but when i do there seems to be alot of Q’s about guitar in comparison to ”acting/violin” etc..
eh most people that want to play an instrument be it to look cool, to learn, to have it as a skill, to be a musician etc pick up a guitar.
supposedly 90% of self taught guitarists quit due to lack of direction & frustration (mind you they say 80% of statistics are made up ;P)
if you think this is bad you should check the martial arts section, every 2nd question is ”what martial arts is best for me/how do i become a MMA fighter”
Rory Gallagher- Too Much Alcohol (acoustic slide VERY catchy)

Ten $4.31 Part of the ’90s Seattle grunge triumvirate completed by Nirvana and Soundgarden, Pearl Jam debuted with Ten, their most accessible, least self-conscious album. But before that, they were a simply an in-your-face, in-your-head, loud, melodic rock band. An… |
