Connecting a distortion pedal?

No idea what I am getting more, just a thought. I was completely oblivious when I speak of things , so try to understand. I have a … Sp.10 squire amp. It has volume, treble, and bass knobs. I have 2 ports, one for the output of my guitar, and a headphone port. First of all, what I want in the way of a distortion pedal is able to clean playing, and then pushing pedal down, and being able to play with high gain, or it will sound like if I was the overdrive on, on my amp. Can any distortion pedal I? Or is more than an abstract pedal? And how much you want one that can do that cost me? And, having only one output port and a headphone port, I can even hook it up? Would have to plug it into headphone port, I got no clue what ever you want to work. Thanks is advance.

Any distortion pedal will do it. Some just do it better than others. Go to your local music store like Guitar Center and check them out. You do not plug it into your headphone port. What you do is you plug your guitar into the pedal, and then plug the pedal into your amp. The headphone port is just that – it allows you to plug headphones so can we play without anyone else.

Visual Sound Route 66 American Overdrive Pedal $222 Route 66 American Overdrive is sure to become as legendary as its namesake. With classic compression combined with classic overdrive modeled after the sound of the original TS-808 Tubescreamer (JRC4558 chip and all!), the Route 66 pedal gives you two great effects for the price of one.
