Safety Guidlines For HVAC Jobs

One of the first things to learn when studying for an HVAC Jobs position is the safety laws. Print and keep this list for future reference as you progress in your HVAC career.

Ladders
Make sure that the surface is level and firm.
Secure straight ladders in place.
Confirm straight ladders extend at least 3 feet above the landing.
Never carry tools or kit in your hands while climbing any ladder.
Never lean out while working on a ladder.
Always use non-conductive ladders around sources of power.

Manual Handling of Materials
Whenever possible, use hand lorries, carts or other gear to move materials.
Always get aid to lift and carry heavy or hulking objects.
Always use proper lifting systems to lift tools, materials and hardware.
Use leather gloves when moving pointed rimmed materials.

Private Protecting Apparatus
Always wear the appropriate safety glasses or goggles.
Wear a hard hat whenever there is potential for falling objects or head contact with electrical sources.
Never let yourself be overexposed to respiratory hazards.
Utilise a respirator when mandatory for defense against respiratory risks.
Never employ a respirator till the correct training and fit testing has been completed.

Electrical Perils
When working on HVAC units more than 480 Volts, meet with your supervisor about the safety wants, before you start to work. When working on HVAC units less than 480 Volts, protect yourself from arc flash electric shock as follows:
Never approach inside 4 feet of any unit with exposed live parts without following safe work practices and private protective clobber requirements. This approach boundary includes any conductive objects you are carrying.
…Wear four to eight Calorie flame resistant long sleeve shirt and pants;
… Also wear safety glasses, earplugs and a class E hardhat;
… Make sure the hard hat is fitted with an 8 cal arc flash face shield.

Utilize a double layer switching hood in the place of the arc flash face shield and hard hat when you're exposed to energised live parts that could create an arc flash from either side or behind you.
Use only properly rated voltage testers.
After problem-solving the unit, shut off power and lock it out.
Discharge any stored energy such as the current in the capacitors.
Test the unit to be sure that power is off.
If the unit hasn't got a built in interlocking disconnect you can remove your arc flash electric shop private protecting equipment. If the unit has a built in interlocking disconnect, keep all of your private protective clobber on the whole time you are working around exposed live parts.
Complete the upkeep and repairs on the unit.
Put all of the private protective apparatus back on.
Stand to one side when possible and close the access door or panel.
Remove the lockout gizmo.
Keeping to the side, start the power.

Tools
Check power tools, cords, extension cords and equipment for damage for use.
Never use tools, extension cords or apparatus that's broken, frayed or damaged.
Never use plugs that have missing ground terminals.
Ensure all tools are in good shape.
Always use the correct tool for the job.

Rigging
Use the proper kind of rigging for the job.
Make sure the rigging is rated to safely support and weight of the load.
Check the rigging before you employ it.
Drop and replace any rigging that shows wear or damage.

Refrigerant Handling
Always use the correct recovery gear.
Confirm drums don't leak.
Always wear suitable goggles and gloves when charging a system or recovering refrigerant.
Always use correct charging valves.
Tighten bungs on refrigerant drums when the job is complete.
Learn all about the health, fire in reactivity perils of each refrigerant before it's used by you.
Check the label and material safety data sheet for this information.
Correctly tag any recovery refrigerant boxes.
Keep cylinders secured in an upright position.

Acid Pumps
Ensure the pump is in good working condition.
Test the pump for leaks by pumping water.
Confirm vent hoses. Are securely attached to the return tank.
Make sure the pump is properly vented.

Cooling Towers
Ensure fans are shut off and locked out.
Shut off the sump heater.
De- energises the heat tape on makeup water and condenser water lines before servicing.

Roof Work
Be certain to tell a responsible person when and where you'll be working on a roof.
If the unit is near the fringe of the roof employ a fall protection system.
Watch rigorously for trip dangers like pipes, drains, vent channels, etc.
Look for standing water around the unit and take steps to avoid electrocution.

Locking Out Equipment
De-energize the lock out clobber, starters, fans, motors, etc, when possible before servicing.

I can remember when I got the bug to play the drums. I had just seem the movie “That Thing You Do!” About a 60′s band and it focused around their drummer. From then I was hooked. At that point, I wanted to play, but I didn’t want to blow the bank since I was new. So I started to look for a cheap drum set. Seven sets later, I know a lot more about what I should have looked for in that cheap drum set.

I have put together a listing of some of the things you should look for in a cheap drum set.

If you go through a market you can find out various types and ranges of drum sets. When starting out, you probably don’t want to spend too much on something. You can get kits that include the drums, cymbals, stand, and all hardware. While this seems like a good deal, and I did buy a kit like this to start, and it actually is, don’t expect the cymbals to be worth anything. The reason for this is the company will include very cheap cymbals and hardware to get the kit together.

There are brands like Pulse Pro Drums, Verne Vide Drums, Coda Drums and CB Drums that manufacture drums for the beginners and offer them at decent low prices. There are also companies like Cannon Drums, GP Drums, Sunlite Drums, TKO Drums and Union Drums that offer drum sets for the children those who are below the age of 12, that also at very low prices. Make sure the set comes with a hi hat stand and a drum throne.

I recommend buying the kit with everything included. Even though the kit contains some starter cymbals, you should purchase a starter rock cymbal kit. All the major manufacturers offer them, and they start in the $199 range. You will not be getting pro cymbals, but they will be 100% better than the cheap thin sheets of metal that will come with the kit. Make sure at minimum, you have a set of hi hat cymbals, a crash cymbal, and a ride cymbal.

Next, we come to the drum heads. The beginner kit comes with drum heads, but they are very cheap and not well made. So I also recommend switching the heads to pro heads by a major manufacturer like Remo, or Aquarian. If money is tight, at least change out the snare head, and the bass drum head. You need to understand that you can increase the quality of the sound 100% on a cheap drum set by using a good drum head.

This is all you really need to get going. As time goes on, and you want to upgrade, I would recommend making sure you have good tom tom heads, and then start investing in better cymbals. You can really get a lot of good mileage out of a cheap drum set if you spend a little more on the cymbals and the heads. You will realize that 90% of your playing will be with the cymbals, the snare, and the bass drum. So make sure you spend there.

Overall, you can expect to spend anywhere from $300-$500 for the drum kit, about $199 for a decent starter cymbal set, and $15 for the snare head, and $20-$30 for the bass drum head.

One thing to think about, and a really great place to find a great set is to buy a used set. Everyday hundreds of people buy really good sets, and then realize that they don’t like to play. You can get great deals on used professional sets with the good heads and the cymbals for sometimes $500-$700. If you can pay that much and get professional gear, it is really worth looking at.

I think you should sell the pads and the drum kit together, because then you could maybe sell it for a better price!
