When writing a fiction novel, the author must craft a credible, interesting stories and create endearing characters or even dislikeable. However, creating a fabulous backdrop for the characters world and the story is just as important for writing a first-rate novel. Details are more important than one might think!

Pay attention to three things to create a fantastic world, and your readers will return to visit again and again.

1) The world can craft should be likely. This means that if you're writing historical fiction set in 17th century France, the historical details of the time period must be accurate and consistent. The author is required to research details such as the significant historical events or personages, prevailing cultural attitudes and ideas, the political environment and events, types of food eaten, the type of clothing worn, manners of speech, and the list continues.

"Fast-paced music echoed through the hall. Violins, cellos, violas and a plethora of other stringed instruments. Heads turned as a new couple entered the festivities. He is tall, good tone, and darkly handsome. His partner is a high blond beauty sports a light blue dress with a pretty stylish decollete. It was set off her skin tone and remarkable figure perfectly, despite its relative simplicity. There are whispers about the pair as they participate in the reel. Obviously nobles, but stranger still. "

The passage above from the Honor by Kat Jaske is the result of extensive research. What kind of music instrument will they play? What color and style of dress is a noble woman wear? What kind of dances they engage in?

"Finally he dropped by the the second story window, and snatched the gun from his mouth, panting for breath. Her hands were still shaking as he re-primed the gun and searched the suite 'Entrance into Athos' room, hoping that he would not have thought to lock it. He had a bad feeling about this. Really bad.
As he turned the servants' entrance heard him tell the story spanning a wheel lock, and he propelled himself headlong into chambers, yelling, "Athos," the top his lungs. "

The above description of a gun is just enough to be interesting and accurate. Need to make sure that your characters to use a gun that has existed during the time, so it stick out like a sour note to the savvy reader who loves this genre of fiction.

2) Pay attention to the value details in your description. Judiciously use these details to enhance the reader's experience of the story and to help him / her imagine the world where he / she is traveling. This means striking a delicate balance between too little and too much description of the world description. Either extreme is likely to alienate your readers.

Remember, readers who love historical tidbits to enhance the story, but when it turns into a tedious chore to keep everything straight, they may close your books forever. The way to find the right balance is to do a lot of reading and see what other great fiction writers have done well and practice creating a lot of the world. Then, get feedback from readers about what you have written.

3) Add to the fictional elements – those that come from his own imagination to the author – in a way that these elements are not seems to clash with stable environment for the story. Fictional aspects must mesh harmoniously with realistic aspects of the story. There are times an author can take over freedom of the facts established, but a talented author, particularly of historical fiction, will acknowledge that he has taken some liberties.

For a fantasy world, there will be more fiction involved and more details should be devoted to promoting the rule of the world, careers, technology, geography, world history, etc. Be careful though. Character still must follow the "rules of human behavior" or no reader wants to continue reading.

Remember, to have an outstanding creative fiction story, the world should support the cast and the storyline and not detract from either. So details, details, detail – within reason.

How hard is cello? Can I learn it myself?

I currently play guitar, piano, harmonica, some drums, and I tend to pick up the instrument quickly. I play by ear (relative pitch, not absolute), and I can tell very easily if a sign is wrong / out of tune, ect. I understand that bowed instruments, no frets, fingering is very hard to master, not to mention bowing technique. I am currently a full time Students w / a part time job, saying, I have little extra time and extra money. As such, I do not have time for lessons, or have too much money to fund them. What little time I devote to my music and art, and I love the beautiful sweet tones of a good cello. I love the violin as well, and the bass, but I do not have enough space for a bass and I think that's violin fingerings are more difficult. bowed instrument players I ask this question: can I learn cello on my own (most likely w / book) without live instruction?

The cello is very different from other instruments. While you can try learning from a book, I really would recommend getting a teacher to begin with. Not need to be a wonderful teacher who charges $ 50 an hour … but just get some kind of teacher. Search around. Can someone who can teach for the pleasure of it, or at least, for a low price. I was for a while. Once you learn the basics, if you wanted to end lessons and learn by yourself, I think it's pretty easy. If want to go to the previous intermediate level though, I would again recommend getting a good teacher, where it will get costly. Good luck in whatever you do!
