1. Learn to hear the melody line of a song. It sounds like a simple thing to do but it is the key to learning to play piano by ear. The tunes really You are the main you listen to a song. I suggest you start with favorite songs or something easy to hear the tunes. Sing or hum during strong melody the song and see if you can match the song. It always helps me. If you have a keyboard or piano around, trying playing the melody line of the song on the piano while song is playing. Continue to do this in other songs. Do this until you are able to hear the melody of any song you hear.

2. Focus on learning chords (hopefully you know the notes on a piano). You should at least know all major and minor chords. Try learning triad basic chords 1. This is a good start for any new or intermediate player piano just did not know their chords. Many people think they can get no knowing what they play. Some people can do this and are very good and not know their chords. However, I recommend that you learn all chords because you will have an advantage when it comes to things more complicated to play. If you already have a foundation, you can play the song without knowing the song just because you know the chords to the song.

3. Have fun in everything you do. Of course you're going to have to learn music theory but who says you can not have fun here? Once you know how each one relates to the piano chords, experiment and play around with different combinations and patterns chords until you create something you have never done before. You can surprise yourself. Many times I have only one form of the chord on the piano and find a whole new pattern I never thought of before. Playing by ear creativity and expressiveness will make a fantastic piano player and inspiration.
