Thailand And Myanmar Water Fight

Many tourists from around the world visit Thailand, especially Khao Sarn Road in Bangkok during April to participate in water festival (Songkran) festivities. For tourists in action during the friendly fights water year, I'm sure it will be very happy. I thought so too until a few years ago, when I visited Myanmar during dates coinciding with Myanmar's version of Songkran. The Myanmese called the water festival (Thingyan).

To Thailand's version of Songkran water festival, people load up tanks of ice cold water to pick up Trucks and splashing going around drenching everyone inside the range all in good fun. Some like the picture above to load a gun and ice cold water you squirt you will be expected to react to … what else, cold water course.

Now even this festival comes from the same custom is known differently in Myanmar. It is more wild and active. Myanmese authorities build the stage after stage called "pandles" on the sides of main roads. Some of the stages will have live music bands, dances, models and bodybuilders in gay parade amplified With music blaring from loud speakers and PA systems, others are packed chocked full of people armed wildly colorful hoses splashing tons of water to anyone who wants showers of blessings to them.

The Yangon (former capital city of Myanmar) hotel I stayed in an organized tour of the city behind … .. yup, you said it … … Trucks pick up on refreshment, water guns and large drums of ice cold water weapon. It is certainly more fun than the Thai version, especially if you take your whiskey included. The roads were flooded and water is flowing like a small river.

So if you ever visit Thailand for the Songkran festival this, then will jump over Myanmar to open a second water war front. A word of warning though, better book your hotel room or accommodation and air travel tickets earlier. The hotel rooms are always booked months in advance by the fun loving tourists both in Thailand and Myanmar.

The festivities usually last a few days during April. After a hard day at play, take note that Thailand is famous for its ancient Thai massage. Do you get a good massuer to soothe aching muscles after a few days of fun. You can even order a massage service from the hotel.
