Brainwave entrainment has been around for as long as mankind has. In a way, it is way our brains respond to our environment. Our brains respond to sensory stimuli in what is called a cortical evoked response. The cortical evoked response looks something like this:
Brainwave entrainment occurs as a response to any rhythmic stimulus, such as light-flicker or pulsating sound. It is very likely that this is the reason why a flickering fire is such a calming, hypnotic effect or why the defeat of drums evokes such a strong emotional response.
The ability to measure and study brainwave pattern has given us an intellectual understanding of what we already know intuitively: external stimuli have an effect on us. When you rock a baby to sleep, you intuitively sleep patterns evoking a cortical response to a baby. If you go to a disco, the flashing lights and thumping rhythms evoke different kinds of answers.
Brainwave entrainment occurs through a process called the frequency following response. For a certain frequency, The brain will follow it and be entrained to the frequency. When a target frequency is played, the brain will entrain or match it. The result is an altered state of consciousness. If you went on a fast train frequency, your brain activity will speed up. If you are boarding the train at a slower frequency, your brain activity will slow down. It can happen very quickly, as is illustrated below.
As you can see, it can start to happen very quickly. Why brainwave entrainment Sessions usually last between a half an hour to an hour is because it takes time to get off to very slow frequency. In our normal waking state, Our brains are operating at a neutral high frequency. To bring the brain down to a very slow frequency, such as those associated with dreams and lucid dreams, it takes a little time.
The cortical evoked response are innate and universal, as is the frequency following response. This is why brainwave entrainment can work to anyone. If not, it may be necessary to experiment with different brainwave entrainment "vehicles." While binaural beats are the best known, these are not the most effective for everybody. Isochronic beats produce a far stronger response in the brain and therefore are often more effective.

How much should I pay to play drums, and teach the drums.?
I play well and people are asking me to play for the album and live performances. So I make payments, by the time or the session or performance.
I do some free lance work with the drum recording for bands, filling of gigs etc. When I was asked to do some recording sessions in a studio or whatever, I usually charge time – approximately £ 10 – $ 20. This includes I take time to travel, setting up kits etc. However, if his record for your mates I usually just make them buy a few rounds in a bar afterwards. Gigging is usually a set price rather than hourly. Obviously depending on the size of the rig, and the number of people attending, the rate is going to vary. I'd put a minimum of £ 30, ($ 60) if its only a small gig, but if your filling in for one side to the other are well established and often play (which held with a good reputation) I charege the rate of a proffesional musician – £ 100 – £ 500 ($ 200 – $ 1000) Hope this helps

Aretha Franklin concert at Fillmore West on 05 Mar 71 $9.98 One of the most anticipated and ultimately satisfying run of shows ever to occur on the Fillmore West stage occurred in March of 1971, when Bill Graham presented three consecutive nights featuring Tower of Power, King Curtis, and Aretha Franklin. Immortalized in part on the album Aretha Live at Fillmore West, these performances became a landmark event that played a significant role in Franklin reaching beyond the loyal black audiences that already knew of her incredible talent. Pulling off these shows was not an easy task, but thanks in large part to the vision of Jerry Wexler, who had signed Franklin and produced her studio recordings, the challenging logistics were overcome, but not without some trepidation. First, Fillmore West was a much smaller venue that could not accommodate the size audience required to guarantee Franklin’s performing fee at the time. This was overcome with the solution of recording a live album to offset the financial arrangements. Additionally, Franklin had been touring with a traditional show band for years, but Wexler wanted to use an entirely different group for these performances, utilizing top session musicians, including those that had played on Franklin’s studio recordings. There were also serious concerns about how Franklin would be received by the primarily white hippie audience that frequented Fillmore West. Wexler persuaded Franklin to work with King Curtis and the Kingpins, which featured one of the greatest rhythm sections on the planet. Led by Curtis Owsley, whose soulful sax had been prominently featured on Franklin’s earlier studio sessions for Atlantic, his Kingpins included a dream team of musicians that featured Cornell Dupree on guitar, Jerry Jemmott on bass, Bernard Purdie on drums, Truman Thomas on electric piano, and Pancho Morales on congas. Immortalized in part on the album Aretha Live at Fillmore West, these performances became a landmark event that played a significant role in Franklin reaching beyond the loyal black audiences that already knew of her incredible talent. Pulling off these shows was not an easy task, but thanks in large part to the vision of Jerry Wexler, who had signed Franklin and produced her studio recordings, the challenging logistics were overcome, but not without some trepidation. First, Fillmore West was a much smaller venue that could not accommodate the size audience required to guarantee Franklin’s performing fee at the time. This was overcome with the solution of recording a live album to offset the financial arrangements. Additionally, Franklin had been touring with a traditional show band for years, but Wexler wanted to use an entirely different group for these performances, utilizing top session musicians, including those that had played on Franklin’s studio recordings. There were also serious concerns about how Franklin would be received by the primarily white hippie audience that frequented Fillmore West. Wexler persuaded Franklin to work with King Curtis and the Kingpins, which featured one of the greatest rhythm sections on the planet. Led by Curtis Owsley, whose soulful sax had been prominently featured on Franklin’s earlier studio sessions for Atlantic, his Kingpins included a dream team of musicians that featured Cornell Dupree on guitar, Jerry Jemmott on bass, Bernard Purdie on drums, Truman Thomas on electric piano, and Pancho Morales on congas. BBC Sessions [Deluxe Edition] [2CD/1DVD] $22.99 These are the recordings that Jimi Hendrix made for BBC radio in the late ’60s. As such, they’re loose, informal, and off-the-top-of-his-head improvisational fun. These versions of the hits “Foxey Lady,” “Fire,” two versions of “Purple Haze,” and “Hey Joe” stay surprisingly close to the studio versions, but the tone of Hendrix’s guitar on these is positively blistering and worth the price of admission alone. There’s also a lot of blues on this two-disc collection, and Hendrix’s versions of “Hoochie Coochie Man” (with Alexis Korner on slide guitar), “Catfish Blues,” “Killing Floor,” and “Hear My Train a Comin’” find him in excellent form. But perhaps the best example of how loosely conceived these sessions were are the oddball covers that Hendrix tackles, including Stevie Wonder’s “I Was Made to Love Her” (featuring Wonder on drums), Dylan’s “Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?,” the Beatles’ “Day Tripper,” and, in recognition of his immediate competition, Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love.” No lo-fi bootleg tapes here (everything’s from the original masters and gone over by Eddie Kramer), the music and sound are class-A all the way, making a worthwhile addition to anyone’s Hendrix collection. Circle in the Round $23.98 Although this two-disc set is a compilation — primarily consisting of extended outtakes — Circle in the Round features the true colors of jazz chameleon Miles Davis (trumpet) during a 15-year (1955-1970) span from eight different recording sessions. Whether it was serendipity or astute coordination that gathered these sides together, Davis enthusiasts will undoubtedly find plenty to enjoy from his prolific and seemingly perpetual metamorphosis. The sessions are presented chronologically for the most part, beginning with a composite of “Two Bass Hit.” This version is from an October 1955 Kind of Blue session featuring John Coltrane (tenor sax) and a band Davis refers to as “the trio”: Red Garland (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Philly Joe Jones (drums). From the May 1958 recording date comes another major session featuring an all-star lineup: Julian “Cannonball” Adderley (alto sax), Coltrane (tenor sax), Bill Evans (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Jimmy Cobb (drums). Their single take on Cole Porter’s “Love for Sale” is an amazing performance that allows for some intensely cool solos from Miles and Adderley in particular. Listen as well for some tasty piano fills from Evans, as this is the sort of interaction that he’d become synonymous with. Although “Blues No. 2″ is taken from the final session at which Davis and Coltrane would record together, studio documentation reveals that Coltrane did not perform on this piece. The title track appears in an unedited form on the Miles Davis Quintet, 1965-68: The Complete Columbia Studio box set. It is a heavily Eastern-influenced freebop work featuring Davis — who is also credited with performing on chimes during this session — with his famous late-’60s quintet, featuring Wayne Shorter (tenor sax), Herbie Hancock (celeste), Ron Carter (bass), and Tony Williams (drums), as well as Joe Beck (guitar). Collector’s Items [Bonus Tracks] $14.98 The tracks on Collector’s Items may well be what the title claims, but they aren’t exactly rarities, and all have been issued several times, originally portioned out as the Prestige LPs called Collectors’ Items (the original featured seven of the dozen sides found in this reissue) and Conception and as Blue Moods, issued on the Debut Records label. The four sessions these LPs covered spanned the years 1951 to 1956 and show a Miles Davis gradually discovering his mature sound and tone. The first four tracks were recorded in 1953 and feature a rare glimpse of Charlie Parker (Davis’ first boss) playing tenor saxophone rather than alto in tandem with tenor saxist Sonny Rollins, and with Walter Bishop on piano, Percy Heath on bass, and the steady Philly Joe Jones on drums. The next three cuts are from a 1956 session with Rollins on tenor sax, Tommy Flanagan on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Arthur Taylor on drums. Track eight, “Conception,” was recorded in 1951 and pairs Rollins’ tenor with Jackie McLean’s alto sax and features Bishop again on piano, Tommy Potter on bass, and a young Art Blakey on drums. The final four tracks were cut in July of 1955 with Charles Mingus on bass, Britt Woodman on trombone, Teddy Charles on vibes, and another young drummer of note, Elvin Jones. Given the differing personnel and dates, it’s fairly remarkable that the resulting CD actually has the arc of coherence to it, and features a strong version of “‘Round Midnight,” a sturdy, rollicking “Compulsion,” just a hint of Davis’ muted, mature tone on “Vierd Blues,” and a wonderfully atmospheric and hushed “Nature Boy,” given balance and feel by Teddy Charles’ wonderful work on vibes and Davis knowing exactly what to do with that, turning out marvelously sympathetic trumpet lines, working in that deep, stripped down, and emotionally meditative tone that would come to be his trademark. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi |

Giant Steps [Deluxe Edition] $59.98 History will undoubtedly enshrine this disc as a watershed the likes of which may never truly be appreciated. Giant Steps bore the double-edged sword of furthering the cause of the music as well as delivering it to an increasingly mainstream audience. Although this was John Coltrane’s debut for Atlantic, he was concurrently performing and recording with Miles Davis. Within the space of less than three weeks, Coltrane would complete his work with Davis and company on another genre-defining disc, Kind of Blue, before commencing his efforts on this one. Coltrane (tenor sax) is flanked by essentially two different trios. Recording commenced in early May of 1959 with a pair of sessions that featured Tommy Flanagan (piano) and Art Taylor (drums), as well as Paul Chambers — who was the only band member other than Coltrane to have performed on every date. When recording resumed in December of that year, Wynton Kelly (piano) and Jimmy Cobb (drums) were instated — replicating the lineup featured on Kind of Blue, sans Miles Davis of course. At the heart of these recordings, however, is the laser-beam focus of Coltrane’s tenor solos. All seven pieces issued on the original Giant Steps are likewise Coltrane compositions. He was, in essence, beginning to rewrite the jazz canon with material that would be centered on solos — the 180-degree antithesis of the art form up to that point. These arrangements would create a place for the solo to become infinitely more compelling. This would culminate in a frenetic performance style that noted jazz journalist Ira Gitler accurately dubbed “sheets of sound.” Coltrane’s polytonal torrents extricate the amicable and otherwise cordial solos that had begun decaying the very exigency of the genre — turning it into the equivalent of easy listening. Kooper Session: Super Session, Vol. 2 $19.98 In 1969, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist Al Kooper added “talent scout” to his already lengthy r? sum? on the follow-up to the highly successful Super Session disc, which had been issued the previous year. One major difference between the two, however, is the relatively unknown cast featured on Kooper Session. Both albums again converge with the presentation of top-shelf musicianship and inspired performances. At only 15 years of age, guitarist Shuggie Otis is equally potent a performer as the seasoned keyboardist/guitarist Kooper. The duo is able to manifest an aggregate of material whose success leans as much on Kooper’s experience as it does on Otis’ sheer inspired youthful energy. The LP is divided between a side of shorter works (aka “songs”) and a few extended instrumentals (aka “blues”). Kooper and Otis steer their house band, which includes Stu Woods (bass), Wells Kelly (drums), and Mark Klingman (piano). The tight arrangements aptly reveal Kooper’s uncanny ability as a musical conduit. “Bury My Body” — a variation on “In My Time of Dyin’” — has been reworked into a gospel rave-up and features Kooper on one of the album’s only vocals. Conversely, “Double or Nothing” is a spot-on re-creation of a Booker T. & the MG’s track, which not only retains every Memphis-inspired intonation, but also shows off Otis’ ability to cop Steve Cropper’s guitar solo note for note. The blues instrumental jams are documented live and presented on this album the way that they originally went down at the recording sessions. The descriptively titled “Shuggie’s Old Time Dee-Di-Lee-Di-Leet-Deet Slide Boogie” is endowed with a nostalgic piano/bottleneck slide duet and even features the added production value of manufactured surface noise. Miles Davis concert at Fillmore West on 10 Apr 70 $9.98 Around the release of Bitches Brew and just days after wrapping the session that yielded “Yesternow” for the yet to be released A Tribute to Jack Johnson, Miles Davis gathered his band and flew to San Francisco for his first live recorded performance since 1965. Davis had crossed a bridge and was playing to rock houses now–at first to his dismay, but the crowds were responding to his sound, as it reached into epic fourth and fifth dimensions, going places that only a master musician like Davis could navigate and conquer. Miles was also a recent convert to rock???or at least to Jimi Hendrix???and the influence of Hendrix’s wild psychedelic styles poke through in performance here, as well as on the then-new Bitches Brew. This is the Fillmore West show that would ultimately be released as Black Beauty in 1973. Mingus Midnight Jam concert at Radio City Music Hall on 07 Jul 74 $3.98 At the 1974 Newport Jazz Festival in New York, impresario George Wein revived a longstanding Newport tradition — the jam session. Since the very first summer bash in Rhode Island, Wein liked to mix-and-match different musicians on stage to exchange ideas and establish some kind of instant chemistry. (Perhaps the most audacious example of that was in 1958 when he matched seminal rock ‘n’ roller Chuck Berry with Swing-era sidemen, including clarinetist Rudy Rutherford and drummer Papa Jo Jones on a “Sweet Little Sixteen” jam). The Recession $14.99 Dropping the sequential album titles for his third release, Young Jeezy’s The Recession introduces itself as anything but Thug Motivation 103. The opening title track features a collage of some very 2008 news reports where America is going broke while the “they just don’t care about us” feeling sweeps the nation. Then Jeezy enters trading his non-stop swagger for social commentary, and while the singalong thug chorus is as strong as ever, the rapper’s transformation from cocaine-slinging king to voice of the people is unconvincing, especially when he mentions his personal driver and how his “make it rain” sessions at the strip club are getting more conservative. The Barack Obama shout-out that closes the album — “My President” with special guest Nas — works much better with flippant verses (“We ready for damn change/So you all let the man shine”) more suitable for a man who prefers to be called “The Snowman.” Same goes for “Circulate” and its great line about oil prices (“Gas higher than me”) but The Recession abandons politics often enough that you can’t call it ponderous or even a concept album. With those great drums and fake trumpets producer Drumma Boy loves so much, trap star anthem “Amazin” is simple, feel-good music for pimps and players, while the soul-filled “Word Play” finds Jeezy and the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League celebrating the power of rap with warm nostalgia in their hearts. “Put On” with Kanye West singing through an Auto-Tune is the usual second-line goodness that Jeezy normally rounds out albums with, but there’s more forgettable filler than expected, most of it sounding like mixtape leftovers or in the case of “Vacation,” lackluster and forced club tracks. Workin’ $12.98 Workin’ is the third in a series of four featuring the classic Miles Davis Quintet: Davis (trumpet), John Coltrane (tenor sax), Red Garland (piano), and Philly Joe Jones (drums). Like its predecessors Cookin’ and Relaxin’, Workin’ is the product of not one — as mythology would claim — but two massively productive recording sessions in May and October of 1956, respectively. Contradicting the standard methodology of preparing fresh material for upcoming albums, Davis and company used their far more intimate knowledge of the tunes the quintet was performing live to inform their studio recordings. As was often the case with Davis, the antithesis of the norm is the rule. Armed with some staggering original compositions, pop standards, show tunes, and the occasional jazz cover, Workin’ is the quintessence of group participation. Davis, as well as Coltrane, actually contributes compositions as well as mesmerizing performances to the album. The band’s interaction on “Four” extends the assertion that suggests this quintet plays with the consistency of a single, albeit ten-armed, musician. One needs listen no further than the stream of solos from Davis, Coltrane, Garland, and Jones, with Paul Chambers chasing along with his rhythmic metronome. Beneath the smouldering bop of “Trane’s Blues” are some challenging chord progressions that are tossed from musician to musician with deceptive ease. Chambers’ solo stands as one of his defining contributions to this band. In sly acknowledgement to the live shows from which these studio recording sessions were inspired, Davis concludes both sets (read: album sides) with “The Theme” — a brief and mostly improvised tune — indicating to patrons that the tab must be settled.
