What kind of electric bass, 4-string, should I get?
II’ve been playing the 4-string bass for some time now. I want to get one for my birthday, which is coming up, so which one shouldI get? I’ve been using my teacher’s Fender Standard P-Bass meanwhile. But I cant practice at home and I HAVE to practice. I practice on my sister’s guitar meanwhile. So any suggestions? I like the Mike Dirnt P-Bass (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-by-Fender-Mike-Dirnt-P-Bass-513882-i1174838.gc) and the Special Edition P-Bass (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-by-Fender-Standard-P-Bass-Special-Edition-519630-i1150675.gc). So I’m thinking between those two. But are there any more suggestions? I cant have anything too expensive or un-workable. Un-stable. Whatever. But yea. Pleasies and thankies!! =D
Well, it depends on how well you already play right now. If you want that punchy, funky tone, go for the StingRay if you can afford it. It’s around $1400, but it’s really worth it. The Mike Dirnt P-Bass’ aren’t too bad, and they’re not too bad looking. If you really want it, then you should go for it. But I also think the Standard P-Bass is a nice choice too. It’s all about what YOU think is the best. Do some research, and you’ll quickly know what bass you want.

Celemony Melodyne Sound Library Electric Bass $139 With the Melodyne Sound Library (MSL) electric bass you get yourself the sound of legendary bass guitars into your studio: funky slaps on a ’78 Musicman Stingray, tight grooves on a Fender Precision or cool swing phrases on a ’62 Fender Jazz Bass (fretless). Almost every style is present: funk, soul, disco, house, pop, rock, beat, jazz, nu jazz, latin and much more. The MSL electric bass contains around 1,000 first-class phrases and licks which were specially conceived for use with Melodyne technology. They have been recorded in highest musical quality and meticulously optimized for Melodyne—so you can start right away. And if a sample does not fit into your arrangement yet, you can reshape it with Melodyne, adjust tempo and key, vary the timing or create completely different melodies. All sound samples have been recorded without effects or dynamic processing to leave complete freedom for the further editing process and to satisfy highest demands in professional production environments. When navigating through the samples with Melodyne’s Melody Manager, you do not see audio waveforms only, but also the notes of the material. Insert entire recordings, parts thereof or merely individual notes into your arrangements very elegantly using Drag ‘n’ Drop. If desired, Melodyne makes everything match. CreditsThe sounds of MSL electric bass are identical with those of the Ueberschall Liquid Instrument “Electric Bass”. They were played by JÜrgen Attig, recorded by Uwe Kinast and edited and optimized for Melodyne by Harkan TÜrközÜ and Bassim Aziz-Safi. The bass guitars involved are: a 1978 Musicman Stingray with dead funky strings, a 1961 Fender Jazz Bass with mute and flat wound strings, a 1962 Fender Jazz Bass fretless with Rotosound roundwounds, a 1977 Fender Jazz Bass with maple neck and D’Addario Prisms and a 1982 Fender Squier Precision with D’Addario Prisms |

Fender Bass VI $82.85 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Fender Bass VI, originally known as the Fender VI, is a sixstring electric bass or Scale Baritone Guitar by Fender. The Fender VI was released in 1961, and followed the concept of the Danelectro 6string bass released in 1956, having six strings tuned EE, an octave below the Spanish guitar. Its other ancestor was the Fender Jazzmaster, with which it shared many styling and technical details. Its body and electronics so closely matched those of the Fender Jaguar, released the following year, that in all but name the Fender VI was the first model of the Jaguar line released. It departed from the concept of the Fender Precision Bass not only in having six strings, but also in having a shorter scale and thinner strings. Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5 String Electric Bass $1799.99 The 5-string Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V delivers the modern features that bassists demand in a sleek, familiar electric bass design. An updated preamp circuit brings deeply exhilarating active and passive tone. Powerful-yet-quiet N3 Noiseless pickups present more clean headroom, extended EQ range, and tighter low-end response. The tonal options are vast, thanks to the active/passive toggle switch and passive tone control. These amazing electronics effortlessly handle the low B string with impeccable tone and seismic power. The classic Jazz Bass block fretboard inlays and binding present the Fender American Deluxe V bass in a rightfully classy light. The bass is crafted with an alder body, a hard wood that provides clear tone, and lasting sustain. The maple neck with modern C-shape, 5-bolt neck plate, compound radius fretboard, asymmetrical neck profile, and contoured heel offer fast action, silky- smooth playability, and make the American Deluxe Jazz Bass extremely easy to play all the way up the neck. Fender Custom Shop 1950s P Bass Heavy Relic $4876.72 This exclusive Fender 1950s Heavy Relic Precision Bass combines classic tonality, custom-designed appointments, premiere craftsmanship, and impeccable electronics to produce the undeniable Fender P Bass sound that made the electric bass guitar what it is today. Designed originally by Leo Fender and brought to market in 1951, the Precision Bass was the first to earn widespread attention and use. Today, the Fender Precision Bass is still revered as an essential instrument, and has stood the test of time, becoming a true American legend in the process. This 1950s Precision Bass Guitar has a relic finish with vintage electronics and other desirable features. The thin lacquer finish gives the Fender bass a worn, and rugged look, while exposing the bottom colors. It shows heavy arm and edge wear, as well as scrapes and dings. The body is composed of a 2-piece ash construction, with a 3-bolt neck design. The vintage chrome plating also has the relic treatment, still giving it shine, but worn to look like it has been on the road for years. The chrome bridge, bone nut, medium jumbo frets, and custom Madagascar rosewood fretboard offers lasting sustain and unparalleled clarity. The J-bass U-neck shape and 9.5″ radius offers comfort when dancing across the fretboard, and the nickel tuners keep the bass in key. Other appointments on the Fender Heavy Relic P-Bass include block inlays, standard chrome bridge, white pearl pickguard, and Relic P-Bass bridge and neck pickups. Dressed in a vintage thin lacquer finish, the electric bass’s covering will get better with age. Relic treatmentThis 1950s P bass has been given Fender Custom Shop’s Relic treatment, which shows natural wear and tear of years of heavy use, nicks, scratches, worn finish rusty hardware and aged plastic parts. Fender Custom Shop wants its instruments to feel like they had been played every night for 40 years. In the end, these Relic-treated guitars and basses end up being not a tribute to any famous guitarist, but a tribute to the instrument itself.Since 1987, the Fender Custom Shop has been a “dream factory,” producing guitars that are to playing what Ferraris are to driving. The skilled craftsmen in Fender’s Corona, Calif., Custom Shop are known worldwide for their artistry in making instruments that range from the fine to the fantastic. Whether it’s building a new custom axe from the ground up or modifying an existing one, the Fender Custom Shop excels with the joy they draw on in producing rock ‘n’ roll works of art.Fender Custom Shop instruments have been crafted for and with the input of the world’s finest players.
