Looking for guitar strings and picks…?

I did not know which type of replacement strings to get for my electric so I went with Fender Super 250L’s (9′s) and 250R’s (10′s). I was thinking about getting another set of 10′s because I rather like them but I am unsure about 11′s in the sense that the nut on my guitar would not be able to hold them (crappy Fender Starcaster). I also got 222 picks and strings by First Act for Christmas and I’m trying to tell my mom that I don’t trust First Act in a nice way… Any ideas for new strings? I heard D’addario were good and also something about “coated” strings.

I like D’Addario’s for their tone. I go XLs (9s) most often, but get the 10s on my strat-necked guitars. They seem to be the most versatile in my opinion. For example, GHS Boomers are AWESOME for metal and most rock… for other stuff, not so much (in my opinion).

The coated strings are Elixers. I’ve never used em. Heard both good and bad about em. I change strings pretty often anyway. I like to keep em nice and bright. The coating on the Elixers is supposed to slow corrosion. Seems it would, but again, never used em. They’re rather expensive, but supposedly last much longer.

For picks, I’ve stuck to Dunlop 1mm jazz picks (the black ones with the textured grip). I’m not primarily a jazz player (blues, metal, folk, rock, some classical and Spanish) but I love em.
