I was an a-ha moment tonight that I would share with you. First just to give you some background I am "struggling" or "getting my time "to determine the root 5 7th bonds (both the dominant and major). It is getting better but after weeks of study I would have expected to be much more advanced.

Within the last week I have observed myself to learning these chords and realized that I often tend to play chords with my eyes closed and also play it by feel my fingers in advance and settle the strings. It is quite interesting how it works, My brain corresponds to emotion in my hands and fingers on strings, and the main problem is that too often match does not exist, or are close but not quite there.

I also try to keep my eyes open and watch my fingers form the chords, and make it different speeds, even in excess tardiness. Still, the internal matching does not work for me 'feel the fingers of the right shape and space'.

Despite hours of trying, I'm not getting anywhere, when suddenly it occurred to me to experiment with something that my teacher has mentioned many times – and that is to imagine the chord in your mind before playing it. Wow! It worked wonders. I put the finger on the right rhetoric, look at it and memorized the shape (as an image), and when playing the chord sequence and just before the chord change, I briefly recalled the visual image chord in my mind, and my fingers almost instantaneously and automatically moved to the right position. Fantastic! And pretty much every time I tried it again, it worked.

Looking back at the time when I worked through the guitar course DVD, I remember that I used this method several times with great success, but somehow it slipped my mind. Being a very kinesthetic person, I struggle a bit with visual imagery and applying it to everyday circumstances. Well, it seems like I need to invest some time to reacquaint myself with visual techniques and skills.

Piano vs. Guitar – HELP?

I am 16 and I am skipping club volleyball for the season. To keep me preoccupied I really am intrested in learning either Piano or Guitar. I think would be so much fun to write songs and play guitar. On the other hand piano is so beautiful. Any help as one makes it easier / learn faster? Or which one do you think I should get? I need help deciding!

Go for the piano. Personally, I find piano is more fun to play, and more capable. As for which is more difficult, I say, I do not really learned guitar yet, but I've paid more for Piano 4 years now, and I'm so glad I did. Guitars are good, but I see you still can play the piano. Do not pick what you think is easier, because you will not be marked it, it's fun, so you should choose whichever you feel you most enjoy. Maybe find someone with a guitar, and ask to play with it a few days to get the hang of it, and both have a piano.
