Are Beatles Downloads on the way now that Emi has settled its ongoing royalties row?
In a recent interview Billboard, no less an authority than Paul McCartney stated that an agreement to make the Beatles downloads available is "virtually settled", comments a recently reported on its Web site. In another recent interview, when asked if Beatles downloads were imminent, Emi spokeswoman Jeanne Meyer is not comment on McCartney's remarks on Billboard, but answered, that he hopes "this will be soon. In the Billboard story, which is a preview of an interview to McCartney, Paul does not mention Sir where Beatles downloads will be available first, but Apple's iTunes store is a good bet. More fuel on this fire added by a recent report by Fortune that Apple could be on the verge of becoming the exclusive online source for Beatles downloads for a limited time, like three months. This means not only exclusive access to the Beatles but also download the new remastered version of the earlier albums British pop group in any form such as Abbey Road. Most Beatles fans will agree that any music service offering downloads of the Beatles will be fixing a hole his music and offers are long awaited by many.
So the Beatles poised to transform themselves from digital laggards to digital Trailblazers?
Unless Emi makes a special exemption for Beatles songs, the Fab Four's music will not only be available for sale but wanted downloads also DRM-free at a time when most other major-label recording artists' downloads will still be encumbered by restrictions on use. A good percent of online buyers of music can be, at some point, tried downloading a Beatles song, just know that nothing is available. You can "imagine" how many illegal downloads Beatles have taken place and every day because people can not buy any of The Beatles online. Fab Four fans are eagerly waiting are the days when the Beatles' music was finally released in digital form, this long awaited day is getting just that little bit closer.
So if or when this happens, is the strong sales of restriction-free Beatles downloads add further pressure on the likes of Universal Music Group, Sony-BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group to follow Emi's lead. The Bottom line is you're going to see the download Beatles not-too-distant future. Having said this, it is not joy for all Beatles fans out there though, some will not be tempted by Beatles downloads, because they do not really feel like paying a third time for the same music, especially as it is lower quality than CD and come with restrictions on how they can play and copy it. But the Beatles downloads accounting for 10% of total downloads, most Beatles fans will agree that any music service offering Beatles downloads would go some way to filling the gaps in their digital music collection. So if predictions are correct there will undoubtedly be a mad stampede for Beatles downloads, minute they become legally available, make sure you keep up to date with this legend and continues to be one of the many who enjoy the music of perhaps the greatest band the world had seen.

3 Fervent Travelers $12.99 Time for Three — fiddlers Zach DePue and Nick Kendall and standup bassman Ranaan Meyer — bill themselves as a genre-stretching, boundary-demolishing trio with a sound all their own. They do have impressive chops and Meyer, the main composer, has skills that draw on a wide range of music, but they’re not the only band in the land that’s blending classical, bluegrass, Gypsy jazz, and swing in its music. Groups like Leftover Salmon and the Hot Club of Cowtown explore similar territory, maybe without the classical European touches. That said, there’s still plenty of remarkable playing on 3 Fervent Travelers. “Wyoming 307″ opens the disc in a dark, droning, classical mode, then slowly evolves into a bluegrass barnburner with DePue and Kendall trading off sizzling lead lines and seguing directly into “Forget About It,” which continues the bluegrass-style mayhem with the fiddlers slipping up into their ear-tweaking higher registers, each playing a different variation on the melody while Meyer adds rhythmic accents on his bass. “Don Don” opens with a musical quote from “Jailhouse Rock,” then Kendall and DePue play an extended jazzy, Grappelli-meets-Bob Wills interlude, dropping out to give Meyer time for a brief solo before their Bill Monroe-meets-Monk finale. The violin accents on “Philly Phunk” live up to the tune’s title, while the solos range throughout the blues, jazz, country, and new music spectrum with unpredictable shifts in time, tempo, and timbre. They close the album with a classically influenced arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” that accents the tune’s solemn tone, despite the rippling violin triplets that accent the second chorus. They close with a jazzy version of “Orange Blossom Special” that features Meyer’s impressive bass work setting up the dueling fiddles of DePue and Kendall, playing at lightning speed and dropping Arab and Gypsy jazz accents into the mix. ~ j. poet, Rovi |

The Goat Rodeo Sessions $14.99 The last time cellist Yo-Yo Ma teamed with bassist Edgar Meyer and mandolin player Chris Thile (of Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers fame) for a classical/bluegrass hybrid, the result was the gold-selling Songs of Joy & Peace. Here, Ma, Meyer, and Thile are joined by fiddler Stuart Duncan in a different kind of string quartet. The slang phrase “goat rodeo,” according the Urban Dictionary, “is about the most polite term used by aviation people (and others in higher risk situations) to describe a scenario that requires about 100 things to go right at once if you intend to walk away from it.” That may be overstating the case for a group of musicians, most of whom have worked together and succeeded before, but it also carries a rural connotation that is appropriate for music that is, for the most part, closer to bluegrass than classical. The tunes were written by Duncan, Meyer, and Thile, and Ma’s role is largely supportive. After the fast pieces Attaboy and Quarter Chicken Dark, Helping Hand is the first slower number, with Thile switching to guitar and Duncan taking over the mandolin for a musical conversation between the two instruments. Where’s My Bow? is a violin/cello/bass trio with Thile sitting out, and it is one of the few tracks that leans more toward the classical side, boasting a big, dramatic finish. The more exotic Here and Heaven finds both Thile and Meyer at times playing the Renaissance instrument the gamba, as Duncan picks up a fretless banjo, all of them backing a vocal duet between Thile and Aoife O’Donovan of Crooked Still. Meyer moves to piano for the slow, thoughtful Franz and the Eagle, another piece that has more of a classical bent. The rest of the album is in a progressive bluegrass mode, Less Is Moi mixing several short themes and allowing room for improvisation, and 13:8 taken quickly, with Duncan and Thile interacting briskly.
