  • SHARMA, A.K. –” “Q: What does the Transcendental Meditation technique do? The body gains an extraordinarily deep state of rest while the mind settles down to a state of inner calm and wakefulness.”
  • SHARMA, A.K. –” It is easy to escape from a situation than to face it. It is easy to confront than to console, It is easy to speak than to listen. It is easy to be serious than to laugh. • SHARMA, A.K. –”"We have to put down the burden periodically, so that we can refresh and are able to carry on. So before you return home from work tonight, put the burden of work down. Don’t carry it back home- You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burden you are having now on your shoulders, let it down for a moment if you can. Pick it up again later when you have rested–”

  • SHARMA, A.K. –”0 Mother Durga, For those that remember you in difficulty You remove all fear. For those who remember you in their happiness You bestow all wisdom. With boundless compassion in your heart Who but you are the dispeller of poverty, pain and fear.”
  • SHARMA, A.K. –”0 mother of the universe, give us rain!/ Cleanse us of fear, suspicion and panic!/ Heal us of hate:/ Give us that which we need!/ As the I one fire leaping out of many kinds of wood,/ j As the one air that is ; breathed by all,/As the one sun shining upon the world,/Is untainted by the blemishes of what it shines upon;/ As the one self Abiding in, yet unsullied by many selves;/ Come forth, 0 come forth…”
  • SHARMA, A.K. –”A lecturer was giving a lecture to his students on stress management. He raised a glass of water and asked the audience. “How heavy do you think this glass of water is?” The students’ answers ranged from 20 gm to 500 gm.”
  • SHARMA, A.K. –”A man found a cocoon of a butterfly One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole.”

  • SHARMA, A.K. –”Abundant is the year, with much millet and much rice; And we have our high granaries. With myriads, and hundreds of thousands, and millions (of measures in them); For spirits and sweet spirits, To present our ancestors, male and female, And to supply all our ceremonies, The blessings sent down on us are of every kind.”
  • SHARMA, A.K. –”After a while you learn the subtle difference/ Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,/ And you learn that, love doesn’t mean leaning/ And Company doesn’t mean security/ And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts/ And presents aren’t promises,/ And you begin to accept your defeats/ With your head up and your eyes open,/ With the grace of a man, not the grief of a child,/ And learn to build all your roads/ On today because tomorrow’s ground/ Is too uncertain for plans, and futures have/ A way of falling down in mid-flight,/ After a while you learn that even sunshine/ Burns if you have too much./ So you plant your own garden and decorate/ your own soul, instead of waiting/ For someone to ring you flowers,/ And you learn that you really an endure…/ That you really are strong/ And you really do have worth,/ And you learn and learn/ With every person you meet or employ you learn/ With every friend or lover, you learn/ With every goodbye you learn.”

  • SHARMA, A.K. –”Ancients believed in the phoenix, a legendary bird that would live for 500 years. Near the end of its life, the phoenix would build a funeral pyre for itself. As it began to die, it would lay down on the wood; the wood would burst into flames consuming the phoenix after the bird died. The phoenix would emerge anew from the ashes of the funeral pyre stronger and more beautiful than before living on for another 500 years. Thus, the phoenix… is another symbol of transformation and a representation of the grief response… for those who feel entirely consumed by the deep emotional response to grief before re-emerging, in a sense, being reborn by the experience.”
  • SHARMA, A.K. –”As a tattoo design, flames or fire may represent transformation, destruction, change, passion, a beacon of light and knowledge and serve as a warning to the wearer. …as the smoke of the fire wafts towards the heavens it was thought to bear the wishes and prayers of the faithful. An object or sacrifice that is consumed in a fire becomes flames, heat and smoke and all that remains afterwards is ash. In Judaism, candles are lit to usher in holidays and to separate Shabbat from the rest of the week, as well as to remember the dead; another important fire symbol is the Eternal Flame, which was a fire kept in the First and Second Temple that was never supposed to go out. In mythology, the Phoenix is consumed in flames and is reincarnated out of its own ashes. The flames are a symbol of transformation and rebirth and represent the cycle of life.”
  • SHARMA, A.K. –”As Bramnacharini Parvati undertook penance to attain Shiva. Hence the names Tapacharini, Brahmacharini and Uma.”
  • SHARMA, A.K. –”As children bring their broken toys/ With tears for us to mend/ I brought my broken dream to God/ Because He was my friend./ But then, instead of leaving Him/ In peace to work alone/ I hung around and tried to help Him/ With ways that were my own./ At last i snatched them back and cried:/ “How can You be so slow!” “My child”, He said: “What could I do?/ You never did let go”.

  • SHARMA, A.K. –”Blog query: Why was Arjuna chosen for the Gitopadesh? Blogger 1: Arjuna represents all of us. Out of all the five Pandava brothers only he was unwilling to fight. He felt the emotions of kinship. Arjuna needed help and so the Gita was given to him. Blogger ,2 (ISKCON): The Lord has given Arjuna knowledge that is confidential (knowledge of Brahmn) and still more confidential (knowledge of the Super soul within everyone’s heart), and now He is giving the most confidential part of knowledge: just surrender unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He says: ‘Always think of Me.” This essence is not understood by all, but by one who is dear to Krishna, a pure devotee… and it should be carried out not only by Arjuna but by all living entities. Blogger 3: Krishna did not pick Arjuna for any specific reason; but chose to tell him about all that he told him under the -circumstances that warranted it. But it bsnefited all the people of the world.”

If one doesn’t feel comfortable with the concept of God, one may think of grace light as a powerful cosmic energy that has the power to change our lives. As grace light empowers us, our hearts and minds will be ignited with divine inner radiance and intelligence. In Tamil, grace light is called Arm’.
