No Time For Music?
It is well known that music is affecting our lives, though it might not have been decided whether some kinds of music have a better effect on us than others! What I do know is that some of the most enjoyable times in my teaching career were when I was either coaching a choir or teaching songs to a class of kids. Learning to read is one thing, but what about learning to enjoy music?
We've all got different tastes in music, but if we are able to be concerned in some kind of music-making with others, there can be a great deal of benefit in numerous ways for all concerned.
At maybe its simplest level, if we are a part of a group of singers, we do not need to be particularly good at singing to enjoy ourselves. Joining together to provide a moderately good result's gratifying and therefore , pleasurable. (Whether or not it is delightful to others could be difficult to discern) But the 'togetherness ' is good, at least. With youngsters, the advantage of getting together to provide a good song is invaluable. I have seen the shyest kids 'come out of their shell ' when they know they're accepted as part of a choir and the naughtiest kid forget to misbehave because they're engrossed in the music.
For a few years I taught seriously emotionally upset youngsters - who were so traumatised they had no reserves left to learn in a standard college situation. It was my job to make some attempt to continue the children's education while the resident psychoanalyst tried to help them mend their lives.
Teaching ordinary lessons was very tricky, but when feelings - and tempers - became most unlikely to control, the single thing that worked to restore order, was singing. They were always happy to sit around the piano together and sing and if it was a comic song, so much the better! At these times, abused, damaged and heartsick kids could laugh happily and sing joyfully, in spite of everything. 'Bananas in Pyjamas' will always bring to me the memory of small children laughing and singing, while the rest of their lives were in total disarray.
So I suspect that filling the school curriculum so full that there is no room for music is a retrograde step. Why is it that youngsters find singing so uncool nowadays? - possibly because they no longer experience the joy of singing in primary school, because it is not considered crucial any longer. They have no chance to sing together solely for pleasure. These days the X Factor and similar reality television shows demand a totally different kind of music "and only the most accomplished performers are selected - with the general public, on the whole, deciding who are the most talented. Subsequently there is no room for the musically untalented to just enjoy music. If you know you aren't good at it, then you avoid it "even though there are few individuals who are really 'tone deaf.' Actually almost everyone can sing a little and this can be inspired if given the opportunity.
Music gives confidence to the timid; peace to the uneasy and enjoyment to the disillusioned and they don't need to be particularly proficient. Certainly these benefits should be the root of learning in all our colleges, for if our children remain timid, agitated or disillusioned, they'll never be in a position to achieve their potential whatever we try to show them.
Helena Rogers has been a teacher for at least thirty years and is well known for her very successful Reading Revival strategy that helps children learn to read using reading games.

1 Sound at A Time - Lay each sound down 1 by 1, this implies each drum hit, snare, piano observe, synth and so forth now again if you are simply beginning out this can be a little frustrating which is why I recommend utilizing a beat with little or no sounds (5 max). Utilizing a beat with 5 sounds will allow you to discover and start making beats proper away.
Study Your Gear - Get aware of your equipment and it' settings. It's always good to know where your sounds are and such this way when your listening to other peoples beats you know precisely the place to go for the sounds or ones that are similar. I recommend you get accustomed to Eq as well.
Apply - I discussed earlier choosing 5 simple beats what you wish to do is remake every 1 5 instances or till you get it to the place the beat sounds actually close it will assist your ear training and manufacturing skills.Yes do this will all 5 then transfer on to more complicated beats. The extra you do that you more you sound design, practice your ear, learn association in addition to creative mixing techniques.

Double Bottomline Entrepreneurship
Today, I spoke with Dr. Ken Gibson, Founder of LearningRx, and listened to quite a fascinating story of an entrepreneur. Ken is an optometrist, with a strong interest in business, and at some point, provided business consulting to over 300 Optometrists, before the development of techniques for training people to know that now is at the heart of LearningRx.
LearningRx provides cognitive skills training to improve the ability of the brain to process information. The LearningRx training programs go beyond the symptoms of academic struggles to attack the root problem – the limitations on the ability of students to learn. Render the underlying training cognitive skills required to increase the effective – hearing processing, attention skills, cognitive, visual processing, memory, and solving problems. Once strengthened, these skills enhance the ability of students to learn.
Ken stresses, "It's practice, not instruction or teaching. It's like giving a lecture on Piano practice against a person to play the piano … "
Competing with the best reading and learning program called Lindamood provides 2.3 years worth of improvements to the 142 session. Ken's program provides 4.8 years worth of improvement in 72 sessions.
In 1989, Ken began licensing procedure the doctor's office and such, but soon realized that he needed a franchise infrastructure to reach more people. In 2002, he opened a Colorado Springs center, within 4 months of having threw up $ 225,000, with about 70 participating students over the average duration of 3-6 months.
Ken believes, engineers, teachers should not, make his best trainers. Many engineers work in its center, wanting to make a difference. Ken does not allow any trainers to work for more than 15-18 hours a week, or 3 hours at a stretch. The process is intense, hence the caution.
The first franchisee opened in 2004. Now, LearningRx has 32 centers across the country, with about on average 50 active student carries anywhere between $ 250k-$ 500k / year. The number will certainly go up, as franchises mature! All franchisees are recruited by word-of-Mouth. Customer recruitment is through a mix of newspaper and radio ads, though now moving towards mainly direct marketing.
VCs invest our money in many businesses incremental … Ken Gibson's bootstrapped gem is one that makes a difference to many life, and in my opinion, is worth scaling!

What is the best way for adults beginning piano?
I am an old man who likes to learn piano – is their a clear agreement on the piano teaching methods? I wish to be able to play classical pieces, as well as to read down a jazz charts!
Play Piano in a Flash – Even If You Do You Know Where the Middle C Is So, you've been dying to play the piano. But do not want to spend years learning how to read music. Of course not! And ye IF you need to learn a chord-based approach to playing piano. Here's a method I use to get my students playing piano in a flash. First, need to know a few chords. But not just any kind of chord. No. The chord type have my students learn something first is called the open chord position. And through this, you can create your own unique music immediately! The open position chord is exactly what its name implies. It is a chord structure that covers more than 2 octaves of the keyboard and uses both hands right away. If you do not know what an octave is, not to worry. Suffice it to say that 2 octaves is more than 16 white keys. It is a little play this chord structure but once you master it, you're well on your way to unlocking the secrets of keyboard harmony. So, how exactly can we use strings to create music with? Easy. Take a look at my free piano lesson "Reflections the Water "(available by clicking below.) The first thing you notice about this lesson is that it is not unusual. This is not your typical piano lesson by far. In fact, you can even feel like a lesson in art – and you'd be right! I specifically designed the lesson using a step by step approach many art instruction books to use. The study contains four open position piano chords with fingering diagrams. The good thing about the chord structure once you master it, you can easily use it to play ALL the chords in all 12 keys. The first thing I ask you to do is play the chords – first tones all together (solid chords) and then broken up tones (broken chords.) Once you have this chord structure under your fingers and have already generated a muscle memory for it, rest is easy! The lesson "Reflections in Water," we use this chord structure to improvise a few minutes of music. Continued string is laid out for you and all you have to do is simply follow along. I also provide audio examples so you can hear how I use same chords with immediately. If you really want to play piano in a flash and do not want to wait, try the open position piano chord. You will not be disappointed?

Q Methodology $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Q Methodology is a research method used in psychology and other social sciences to study peoples subjectivity that is, their viewpoint. Q was developed by psychologist William Stephenson. It has been used both in clinical settings for assessing patients, as well as in research settings to examine how people think about a topic. The name Q comes from the form of factor analysis that is used to analyze the data. Normal factor analysis, called R method, involves finding correlations between variables (say, height and age) across a sample of subjects. Q, on the other hand, looks for correlations between subjects across a sample of variables. Q factor analysis reduces the many individual viewpoints of the subjects down to a few factors, which represent shared ways of thinking. It is sometimes said that Q factor analysis is R factor analysis with the data table turned sideways. While helpful as a heuristic for understanding Q, this explanation may be misleading, as most Q methodologists argue that for mathematical reasons no one data matrix would be suitable for analysis with both Q and R. The Methodology of Herbert Blumer $47.45 The Methodology of Herbert Blumer is a comprehensive critical account of the contributions of this important American sociologist to the methodology of social research. In a close reading of Blumers texts, the author charts the development of Blumers thinking, revealing a tension between an essentially realist ontology and Blumers emphasis on the relationship of theory to methodology. The author describes Blumers conception of methodology as a selfreflective exercise in which the principles of scientific inquiry are developed and criticized, and not merely as a matter of technique. Blumers concentration on the integral unity of theory and method relates suggestively to current thinking about methodology, while his examinations of this theme in such areas as public opinion research and variable analysis provide provocative criticisms of many current research practices. Manual of Antisense Methodology $380.76 In the past few years, antisense methodology has moved from in vitro studies to in vivo studies and first human trials. While the basic concept of antisense technology is simple, the methodological problems associated with its use are numerous and complex. Antisense based methods have proven to be a field of research where careful attention to experimental protocols and appropriate controls is necessary. The Manual of Antisense Methodology emphasizes the application of antisense oligonucleotides, and is a guide for the identification of antisense and nonantisense effects in different experimental settings. The work is organized into three sections: antisense application in vitro, antisense application in vivo (animal models) and finally, clinical antisense studies. Where at all possible, the methods are described in sufficient detail to allow reproduction of a given experiment. A Methodology for Identical Post $135.42 Modeling an FSM in implicit style is a more powerful, abstract and concise method to define an FSM as compared to explicit coding style. Implicit style models FSMs in terms of activities at different clock cycles without the need for defining state transitions explicitly and partitioning the code into combinational (next state and output logic) and sequential (present state register) segments. However, implicit style registers all FSM outputs by default; unlike explicit style where the designer can choose to make the outputs combinational or registered. These flipflops delay the outputs by one clock cycle and assert them for one or more extra cycles in multicycle operations, as compared to explicit style. In addition, Mealy outputs in implicit FSMs cannot respond immediately to changes in input. We developed a methodology that removes the output flipflops after synthesis. This modification process involves editing EDIF files generated by thirdparty synthesizers (such as FPGA Express from Synopsys) and providing the modified EDIF file to the placeandroute tool. This methodology ensures that a modified implicit FSM operates the same way as an explicit FSM, after synthesis. A Business Analysis Methodology $157.72 Business analysis is as one of the most important parts of systems development. However, current business analysis methodologies are inadequate because they have phases that are at a too high level and do not map activities, techniques and tools to phases. This research intended to develop a methodology for business analysts in the South African financial services environment. It was based on a qualitative research approach. Sixty participants including CIOs, business analysts, project managers and IS managers were interviewed. Participants presented a purposive sample. Data analysis consisted of finding patterns and themes in the various forms of data, which were segmented into categories and subcategories by means of the constant comparative method. Key findings were the relevant phases of a methodology i.e. feasibility phase, business case phase, analysis and design phase and postimplementation evaluation phase. Objectives, outcomes and relevance of each of those phases were also identified. Activities, techniques and tools were mapped to each of those phases. Research Methodology and Scientific Communication $129.05 To design an impressive research proposal or methodology, one should have gone through intensive search. Basic steps in research process are: formulating the research problem, extensive literature review, developing the objectives, preparing the research design including sample design, collecting the data, analysis of data, generalization and interpretation and preparation of the report or presentation of resultsformal write ups of conclusions reached. Thus appropriate research methodology is the backbone of any research and needs thorough understanding. It will be very helpful for designing a descriptive, correlational, explanatory, exploratory scientific write up. For impressive write up one should work on searching of related review literature, compilation of data and subsequent interpretation by statistical analysis. In addition, it will be able to answer most frequently asked questions like determines the data needs, specifies the sources of data, suggests which type of research is likely to be more appropriate, determines the most appropriate technique of analysis and contributes to the development of theory. Systems Biology and Its Methodology $167.53 Within the past decade, Systems Biology (SB) has emerged as an ambitious new approach to the study of complex biological systems. Despite its remarkable impact on biology and beyond, however, the approach remains largely undefined with respect to the fundamental question of its identity: What is SB? In this study, a preliminary answer is sought in a consideration of SBs historical relationship to General System Theory, a topography of its multidisciplinary character, and an analysis of two cases from the scientific literature illustrating the application of its method in the laboratory. The resulting characterization of SB permits the exploration of philosophical questions regarding its methodology: Does it represent an alternative to reductionism? What is the promise that it holds for the future of biology and what are the limits of its potential? Finally, what are its implications for the scientific status of biology, the unity of science project, and the philosophy of biology? Given the scope of its analysis, this book might interest both philosophically inclined biologists and philosophers of biology, as well as, more generally, readers who think critically about the methodology of science. Workin’ $12.98 Workin’ is the third in a series of four featuring the classic Miles Davis Quintet: Davis (trumpet), John Coltrane (tenor sax), Red Garland (piano), and Philly Joe Jones (drums). Like its predecessors Cookin’ and Relaxin’, Workin’ is the product of not one — as mythology would claim — but two massively productive recording sessions in May and October of 1956, respectively. Contradicting the standard methodology of preparing fresh material for upcoming albums, Davis and company used their far more intimate knowledge of the tunes the quintet was performing live to inform their studio recordings. As was often the case with Davis, the antithesis of the norm is the rule. Armed with some staggering original compositions, pop standards, show tunes, and the occasional jazz cover, Workin’ is the quintessence of group participation. Davis, as well as Coltrane, actually contributes compositions as well as mesmerizing performances to the album. The band’s interaction on “Four” extends the assertion that suggests this quintet plays with the consistency of a single, albeit ten-armed, musician. One needs listen no further than the stream of solos from Davis, Coltrane, Garland, and Jones, with Paul Chambers chasing along with his rhythmic metronome. Beneath the smouldering bop of “Trane’s Blues” are some challenging chord progressions that are tossed from musician to musician with deceptive ease. Chambers’ solo stands as one of his defining contributions to this band. In sly acknowledgement to the live shows from which these studio recording sessions were inspired, Davis concludes both sets (read: album sides) with “The Theme” — a brief and mostly improvised tune — indicating to patrons that the tab must be settled. In this case, settling the tab might include checking out Steamin’, the final Miles Davis Quintet recording to have been culled from these historic sessions. ~ Lindsay Planer, Rovi |
