Try to relax and do not panic. Treat your upcoming event as one of your ordinary days that you will need to perform with no mistakes and part of your lesson goal.

  1. 3.Identifying the groups of notes written in the musical piece on different sets of scales, intervals and chords can help you read the musical piece easily. Mark or circle the group in different colors like red for the scales, blue for the chords, arpeggios and green for the intervals. When youre through, you will see the piece in a different light instead of looking on many unidentified black and white notes.
  2. Vertical or horizontal piano, what are they? These are two basic categories of piano. They differ in the string position and the height. Vertical pianos have four types – the spinet, console, studio and upright. The horizontal piano also called the grand piano because it is said to produce finer tune than the vertical. This has six types – petite, baby, medium, parlor, semi concert or ballroom and the concert grand piano.
  3. There are talented pianists who play the piano through hearing it but do not understand the principles of piano music.
  4. Learning to read musical notes is like learning how to read. Reading the words is like a pattern of alphabets put together. This also applies in learning to read musical notes quickly. Words are read through pattern and the musical piece is read through different sets of pattern too. Otherwise, if you read the piece note by note and the paragraph by letters, it will makes you a slow player and play without context.
  5. If today is not a good time and perhaps you are not in the mood to practice your piano lessons, try to spend some time on your own. Relax and enjoy a few hours or minutes. Sit down and make some nice sandwich or tea. Do something that will make you feel great perhaps some thoughts of your dream concert as a pianist. Learning how to play piano is not a one day lesson. The Texas State Bird

Mockingbird is the state bird of Texas. Most States in the United States of America has a state bird associated with it. The State Texas too have a bird associated with it. The Texas State Bird is known as the Bird mocking. Scientifically, the mocking bird is known as the mimus polyglottos. It is about ten inches long, with reasonably long tail. It is a shade of light gray coat and a whitish underside. The wings and tail of the Texas State Bird is a darker shade of gray with white patches on it.

If you ask any Texan, he or she will no doubt tell you just how beautiful singing of birds is in comparison to any other native North American birds. Probably the main reason why the mocking bird is accepted as the Texas State Bird in 1927.

Recommends the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs, Mockingbird was adopted as the official bird for the state of Texas by an act the Legislature, which then approved on January 31, 1927. The reasons as to why the mockingbird was selected as the certified state bird of Texas has for many reasons. First, the bird is found in all parts of Texas. Second, ornithologists, musicians, educators and the Texans coming from all walks of life fuse together in asserting the mockingbird is the most suitable specie for the state of Texas. And most importantly, the Texas Federation of Women's Club named the bird State mokimbed number of birds of Texas and asked the fortieth Legislature to adopt it.

The common mockingbird is a fantastic songbird and reproduce. Mockingbird's song is conducive to the ear and rhythmic. Sometimes it sings all night long, especially during youth moonlight. The mated males sing more less than unmated. Amazingly, both male and female birds sing during the autumn season to call the winter feeding territories. These locations are usually different spring to their breeding territories.

The Texas State Bird song is more like a melody of calls of various other kinds of birds; Each melody is continued for several times. The mockingbird imitates sounds also hears from other species, pianos, sirens, barking dogs, etc. Each replication is repeated that two or three times, then another song is started, all in a quick succession. The Texas State Bird is also known as a fierce guardian of his nest and environment. Many times people have seen the mockingbird to swoop down on a dog, cat or predator that may be coming too close to the bird's protected territory, thus making it a fighter for the protection of his home, falling if need be, in his defense, like any true Texan.

Gerry Mulligan concert at Philharmonic Hall on 03 Jul 73

Gerry Mulligan concert at Philharmonic Hall on 03 Jul 73

$4.98

In a program titled “A Jazz Salute to the American Song,” which had various artists paying tribute to Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Jimmy Van Heusen, Harold Arlen, George Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart, Fats Waller and Duke Ellington-Billy Strayhorn, baritone sax ace Gerry Mulligan paid tribute to Alec Wilder along with his piano playing colleague Marian McPartland. Accompanied by bassist Rusty Gilder and Erroll Hayward, they tackled material that would later appear on McPartland’s 1974 recording, Plays the Music of Alec Wilder, on her own Halcyon label. Opening on a lightly swinging note with an easy-going rendition of Wilder’s “It’s So Peace	ful in the Country,” the quartet then segues to the bouncy waltz-time number “While We’re Young,” which serves as a springboard for some of Mulligan’s most potent soloing of the concert. McPartland follows with a cascading solo in which she confidently navigates the myriad of changes with flow and swing. They conclude their all-too-brief July 3rd performance at Philharmonic Hall with Wilder’s most famous and most poignant piece, “I’ll Be Around,” which opens with a bass-bari duet between Gilder and Mulligan. McPartland enters the mellow piece with subtle comping alongside Haywood’s sublime brushwork. Mulligan’s robust bari tones carry this copasetic set while the ever-swinging McPartland provides the all-important harmonic glue to the proceedings. A regular figure at the Newport Jazz Festival since its inception in 1954, both as a leader and inveterate jammer in various all-star settings, baritone sax star Mulligan was a perennial poll-winner through the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Born on April 6, 1927 in New York City, he revolutionized the awkward and unwieldy baritone saxophone with his light, airy tone combined with his uncanny speed and dexterity on the instrument. His family moved frequently during his childhood – first to Ohio, followed by stints in Illinois, New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania. He broke into the mus

Night Ranger concert at Northern Michigan University on 08 Aug 84

Night Ranger concert at Northern Michigan University on 08 Aug 84

$9.98

This recording of Night Ranger was captured for the King Biscuit Flower Hour at the University of Northern Michigan on August, 8th 1984. This concert finds the band at an exciting time in their career, as they had just released their million-plus selling smash-hit LP, Midnight Madness, and the listener can feel the excitement of the fans and swagger of a young band at the height of its powers. After a short introduction, the quintet blasts straight into the pentatonic stomp of “Touch of Madness.” While they were predominantly known for their power ballad “Sister Christian,” they quickly show off their legitimate hard rock chops. The opener, like many of the group’s upbeat songs, is led by the cocksure snarl of vocalist/bassist Jack Blades and the guitar pyrotechnics of the shred-happy Jeff Watson, who is known for his bombastic eight-finger tapping. From there, they head into the moody, undeniably catchy “Rumors in the Air.” For the first time, keyboardist Alan Fitzgerald gets into the act, showing that he can hang with Watson. The group really hits its stride with the anthemic “When You Close Your Eyes.” The song was a big hit for group, and it is easy to see why, as it features Blades’ soaring vocals, a powerful lead line from Watson, and a catchy chorus melody. Another highlight is drummer Kelly Keagy’s furious solo at the end of “Night Ranger.” The group dedicates its most famous song, “Sister Christian,” to “all the sisters in the crowd,” and under the poignant piano melody, the listener can hear the kind of rabid “tween” screaming usually saved for New Kids on the Block. Keagy takes over on lead vocals, and he is just as confident and powerful as Blades. Though the song undoubtedly helped the group be heard by a large smattering of people, it’s a shame that some have written them off as a one-hit wonder, because, as you can hear on this recording, they have legitimate rock chops and wrote many great songs. Though some will only remember Night Ranger for a f

Jorgensen’s contention is that equal temperament became the tuning norm only in the last half of the nineteenth century, and that before then, and even intermittently beyond, technicians used a variety of tunings that were “well-tempered” — without “wolf” intervals — but not equal-tempered, in which every key has essentially the same quality. The booklet notes by Edward Foote specify the details of these tunings in diagram form, but they don’t cite any of Jorgensen’s actual historical evidence, making the whole deal difficult to evaluate. The misspelling of Haydn’s name throughout does not inspire confidence. However, the disc is certainly an interesting experiment. Katahn begins with a Scarlatti sonata, played on a piano tuned in the so-called 1/4 comma meantone tuning, the standard before Bach and others popularized well-tempered tuning. Then come four historical tunings and one modern one, each well-tempered: they don’t have the pure C-E thirds of meantone tuning, but “cents” — hundredths of a semitone — are borrowed from the thirds and deployed around the octave to get rid of the wolf intervals. This, obviously, can be done in different ways, with varying results. Many tunings keep the C-E third relatively pure and let the thirds at the far end of the circle of fifths suffer a little bit. The odd DeMorgan temperament used in Chopin’s Fantaisie Impromptu takes the opposite approach, but each tuning has a slightly different flavor. In general, the easily audible effect is to intensify the modulations in the music and the contrasts of distant key areas with the tonic triad. Katahn’s selections are well chosen for the demonstration, with the Mozart Fantasy in D minor, K. 397, offering an excellent tour throu…
