Steel String for Classical?
I have purchased a high dollar Martin guitar and I was wondering if many people out there who have used steel acoustic strings for classical and flamenco guitar playing. otherwise I will need a nylon Stringer or … can i put nylon strings on an old steel string Yamaha guitar I have?
Guitars built for either nylon or steel strings are constructed differently. You have problems putting nylon strings on a steel guitar chord and verse visa. I say neither is a good idea. If I were in your shoes, I walk the line or a guitar store and buy a nylon string guitar. That's what I did years ago and now I am hooked. I got a second hand Takamine A / E work just fine for a few hundred and then only a year or so ago I got a brand new one, a EC132C and I just LOVE it. As my skills improve I plan on upgrading to a custom built sound only a cutaway. I like cutaways but not the electronics. I can not plug in my amp seems not at all. Yamaha makes guitars nylon too Very Cheap and really good voice quality, I am very impressed with one I've played. Upgrade my tuners on my new Takamine at 16:01 Schaller tuners and put the old Yamaha and Takamine that this is a really nice small guitar to kick around when I was in the area people.

Yamaha NCX2000 Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar Natural $2999.99 The Yamaha NCX2000 guitar inherited many of the characteristics of classical guitars, such as fingerboard width, neck shape, body thickness, and 12th fret joint. Their cutaway bodies and lower string height offer more flexible playability. The NCX line is designed to provide not only classical guitarists with an instrument that is a pleasure to play, but other guitarists playing a wide range of musical styles from Flamenco to Latin to Popular, and much more. This top-of-the-line Yamaha classical guitar is designed and crafted drawing on the vast knowledge, craftmanship, and expertise acquired from over 40 years of hand crafting classical Spanish guitars. Its stunning nylon tone is faithfully reproduced with all its beauty and depth through an advanced electronics and pickup system designed by Yamaha. The Yamaha NCX2000 starts with a solid Hokkaido spruce top, for warm, balanced tone. The neck is African mahogany, while the back and sides are rosewood or flamed maple. Rosewood is a tropical hardwood that has long been the material of choice for acoustic guitar sides and backs. Harder and heavier than maple, it provides firm support for the guitar’s resonating top and delivers rich, well-balanced overtones. The Yamaha guitar’s warm quality is perfect for nylon-string tone. Also known as “curly maple”, flamed maple is prized for its bright, stunning appearance. Hard and strong it is often used for necks on electric guitars. When used for backs and sides it produces a crisp, clear, less resonant tone that cut through well making it great for lead playing. Classical, Flamenco, Latin, or Pop, whatever your style, this classical guitar plays and sounds great thanks to a traditional design ready to accommodate a wide range of playing styles. The neck shape is identical to that on a classical guitar. The Yamaha NCX2000′s bracing design is based on the design used on Yamaha’s top-of-the-line handcrafted GC Series classical guitars. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement), an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha. Through precise control of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years. In NX Series guitars, this treatment results in a sound close to that of a vintage guitar that has been played for years. It produces a sharper tone while simultaneously controlling dissonance in the high range. Instruments that have undergone this process have received high marks from a great number of musicians.
