Robert Connelly, in his white paper, embracing Innovation: A new method for feature film production in Australia, states that, "To negotiate a workable model of industrial for wages in low budget film we need to find a reasonable combination of award minimums and a significant share of the profits of the movie, "and while This is a common arrangement contract for 'above the line' creatives, this structure can be implemented for 'below the line' crew members as well, and fits into the road map for creating independent film.

5. Plan to involve the community in which you Work

It is difficult to put a price tag on the value of community involvement in a film project. In my own short films, Echo, we approached The Ku-ring-gai Council to help us with permits and access to National Park for a sequence we are filming, which involved a child fell from a small boat and drowning.

Find the drama in every scene. Take pictures of things that inspire you. Go to an art gallery and find an artist who makes them feel You want your movie to make people feel. Read the script. Buy a box of crayons and find your color palette. Find musical references for your movie. Stop people on the street and pitch your film to them. Call the editor and get their views on pacing. Read about the independent filmmakers making films and how they are doing it. Tattoo the title of your movies on your ass. Get inspired.

Filmmaking is an art form is a natural extension of our need to communicate through stories. The films we choose to embark on should be personal and relevant to our own personal ethos. It follows that they are crystallized by our increased understanding of the world.

By expanding our experiential database, even non-film related endeavors, we tell the stories we tell. Sometimes the best thing for the creative process is to step aside and refresh our creativity. Obsessions often can not be controlled, but they are held in the arms away for a few minutes as we gain insight.

There are setbacks. There were triumphs.

Feature film is often born by the persistence of vision, a determined and dogged resistance to compromise, and a knowledge that Making movies is a essential volume lexicon of the story that "must be said.
